Free SAT Probability and conditional probability practice questionsdigital SAT, 2026 format
Probability from a two-way table or a described situation, including conditional probability where the denominator is one group, not the whole table.
Answer each question, then read why the right answer is right and why the tempting one is wrong.
Question 1
A survey asked 250 students whether they support a longer lunch period. Of the 140 juniors surveyed, 84 said they support it and 56 said they do not. Of the 110 seniors surveyed, 60 said they support it and 50 said they do not. If a surveyed student who supports the longer lunch period is selected at random, what is the probability that the student is a junior?
Question 2
At a school of 200 students, 120 students play a sport. Of the students who play a sport, 30 also play a musical instrument, and 45 students play a musical instrument but do not play a sport. If a student who does NOT play a musical instrument is selected at random, what is the probability that the student plays a sport?
Question 3
The table shows the results of a survey of 200 students about whether they play a sport and whether they play a musical instrument. | Plays instrument | Does not play instrument | Total Plays sport | 42 | 78 | 120 No sport | 38 | 42 | 80 Total | 80 | 120 | 200 If a student who plays a sport is selected at random, what is the probability that the student also plays an instrument?
