The last two weeks
14 to 8 days out
- Take one short diagnostic to find your real starting range. Don't guess; the weakest two or three skills are where the points are.
- Practice those skills every day in 20 to 30 minute sets. Mix in a few questions from everything else so nothing goes cold.
- Log every miss: the answer you picked and why it looked right. Most students find the same three or four traps over and over.
7 to 3 days out
- Do one full-length timed practice test, like test day, then spend as long reviewing it as you spent taking it.
- Redo the questions you missed without looking at the explanation first.
- Practice pacing: know roughly how long you can spend per question in each section, and when to guess and move on.
2 days out to the night before
- Light review only: your mistake log and a handful of mixed questions. No new full tests.
- SAT: open the Bluebook app on the device you'll test on, make sure it's up to date and your exam setup is finished, and have your admission ticket.
- ACT: print or save your admission ticket and check the calculator policy on act.org.
- Pack the night before: photo ID, admission ticket, approved calculator, pencils, a charged device and charger for the digital SAT, a snack and water. Check the test-center address and arrival time.
Test morning
- Eat breakfast, leave early, and do two or three easy warm-up questions to switch your brain on.
- If a question stalls you, mark it, guess, and move on. There is no penalty for wrong answers on either test.
